Inacurate Cut Crystal Test

Post by WytRaven » Sun Oct 14, 2007 2:38 am

It looks pretty but it's not accurate at all. 'Crystal' material uses IoR 2 with a cauchy B inaccurately calculated from from heacy flint data (base IoR ~1.75) so it's miles off acurate.

Render time 200h 20m before I pulled the plug.

Nice, fine caustics. But can you let it cook a bit longer to eliminate the noise in the glass?

No BbB ;) I promise I'll let the next cut crystal test render till there's not an iota of noise remaining. Hello from Linux by the way. Finally got Ubuntu installed...destroyed my Vista installation in the process

I doubt you actually destroyed your Vista install, unless you completely repartitioned your drive.

If you need help, start an OT thread :)

Oh I destroyed it alright...well Ubuntu destroyed it. Totally stuffed up my partition table on first install attempt. Wouldn't boot Ubuntu from Grub, wouldn't boot Vista from Grub "Unable to mount partition" error for both.

It's all good I have it going now and I have used Ubuntu to backup the other partitions on the screwed drive. Moved them to my secondary drive. Will now completely repartition primary drive and reinstall Vista there.
