Alien sky EXR

Post by dougal2 » Tue May 22, 2007 10:53 am

a home brew - I used the chaoscope fractal generator to make this, and photochop to merge to HDR and convert to lat/long.

looks great :D

@ Ono:
what about exporting an .exr, instead of (or as option to) .png?
That would be good for costum indigoquality .exrs :D one or two of radiances Buildings, I.e., would come nice :D

BTW, the ground plane is neutral grey - it's the EXR that makes everything kinda green ;)

but aren't alien planets supposed to be green ? or perhaps it should be red. I don't think it should be balanced white or blue - that's too much like earth...

yes, you're right, but the eye is whitepoint-addaptive (or the brain. Or both...)

so, if you'd stand on that planet, you'd look very strange, yourself, 'cause of the greenish skin, but the enivironment would look kinda normal.

AND - which star makes such a green light?
Our sun emits weakly greenish...
