Indigo 3 gpu/cpu test

Post by 3form » Wed Jun 15, 2011 7:22 pm

Hi all made this secene to test indigo 3 gpu power. Chair is from turbosquid and materials from cgtextures. My 9800gt did not speed up the rendering that much. :? Ordered a gtx460 2gb soniq from palit hope that it makes a dif.

Cheers

Specify, please, time and quantity of beams, and what algorithm of the miscalculation.

It seems like you used sunsky in the first and an EXR or whatever in the second render …
so it's not real benchmark then?

I would guess they are both rendered with GPU acceleration.

Could be wrong tho :)

Hi all

Yes first is sun/sky second is hdr I got an average of 206ssp on gpu enabled and average of 260ssp with just cpu on path. Does Fermi make any dif? I recon still one of the best unbiased renders out there as I am looking at Octane aswell and Indigo is still by far my fav!!! :D I will redo test with stamps to compare more accurately.

Cheers

Looks like my gpu did not help in boosting the performance at all. :? Still was fun testing the diff modes, first bipath, path and gpu/cpu path. Will c what the gtx460 2gb has to offer.

Cheers

hey 3form, please do me a favor and try to observe CPU utilization during rendering with GPU on/off, also the GPU Load with GPU-Z would be interesting.

Indigo being a hybrid renderer aims to use full CPU and GPU, but a slow CPU could be(come) a bottleneck to "feed" the GPU with data...

Hi Zom-B

Sorry for late replay been busy. On my gtx 460 the load is only 20% when using hybrid mode. Pretty low, but even at that it makes a big dif in the caterpillar scene. My CPU is a Q8400 3.37ghz this might be feeding the GPU slowly. My CPU is at 90% with GPU on and 100% when not. So when they get CPU and GPU to crank at full renders should be blazing fast!!!

Cheers J
