Cool, are you a TopMod user ?
I have some difficulty to read the shape clearly, like its merging into some transparency... I can see there is sss but my concern is different... you got me ?

Yep, that's TopMod.
Here is the blend to explore:
http://butz-e-matic.de/pix/topmod_test3.blend
The transparency is due to my ignorance how all the values effect the new materialsystem.
Here is another version, that is less transparent:
And this might be the material that I used for the 2nd picture (don't remember, if i changed it in the meantime):
Code: Select all
<medium>
<name>rubber</name>
<ior>1.0</ior>
<cauchy_b_coeff>0.0</cauchy_b_coeff>
<absorption_coefficient_spectrum>
<rgb>
<rgb>0 2 10</rgb>
</rgb>
</absorption_coefficient_spectrum>
<precedence>20</precedence>
<subsurface_scattering>
<scattering_coefficient_spectrum>
<rgb>
<rgb>2 12 1</rgb>
</rgb>
</scattering_coefficient_spectrum>
<phase_function>
<uniform><value>4</value></uniform>
</phase_function>
</subsurface_scattering>
</medium>
<material>
<name>green</name>
<specular>
<transparent>true</transparent>
<internal_medium_name>rubber</internal_medium_name>
</specular>
</material>

That is just beautiful.
Thanks for the code+file, I've found a scene that crashes in wine with those mats, but doesn't with yours.

What does "value" do in the phase function?
