Re: Some new work
Scratch that, it looks great! Maybe just use different geometry for the same plant species (for example: speedtree->export variations), to get more diversity, and save time, but I am totally ok with this!

Re: Some new work
Phew! I can sleep easier!
As for speedtree etc I probably should have also mentioned that all the plants / grasses used are either free or modelled by me, so that might explain the lack of variation in individual plants.

Are you using any double sided materials on your vegetation?

Aaaa! So that's it!
As far as I can see it, he's not using it, or his r_t is really high.

Some are some aren't... probably more not to be honest... might try it again... onwards and upwards!Oscar J wrote:Are you using any double sided materials on your vegetation?

Re: Some new work
I'm just being picky - it's all great and I admire your patience. The second shot is the best though, with some more vibrance to the vegetation.
Re: Some new work
Well I was going to try it again.. but I ran into that old bug I've been moaning on about for some time now... when you change the properties of a grouped object / component that has been previously exported then the changes don't seem to have any effect. The only work-around is to explode the group / component and re-group. But with this many scattered items and using dummies & ext files this simply won't work. I would have to delete the entire vegetation and redo it with 'new' components... I know 4.0 is all the focus for the foreseeable future but this issue is starting to become rather bothersome...

Re: Some new work
Finally got a minute to try re-rendering an earlier scene with a better brick. I'm much happier.

Generic sci-fi corridor (or my attempt to kill SketchUp)
Out of my comfort zone...
App Diff, fog atmosphere and 8 light layers = loooooong time to render (and still not really clean...) colour correction and dust particles added in post.

Re: Some new work
I love how you didn't settle for the kinda overused cyan-blue tone and flares just because it's Scifi. Isn't it weird that sometimes the renders you're the most proud of get the least comments?
I say watch out kklors!

Re: Some new work
Some motion blur to disguise some really low poly 3d people... I think it worked OK!
Re: Some new work
YEAH pretty good!
..only thing: I think it's very difficult to set the cast-in-place concrete to host such clean outputs for the electrical parts. More often, here in Italy, the electrical connections are exposed, with small (usually) white pipes appended to the ceiling, along with the air channels (much bigger). Obviously this can be an architectural character to be explored, btw for the render some more technical stuff would increase the likeliness, IMHO.
Wonderful materials as always
