Hi blackice!
I think you used the right scene as a test scene for your learning! This kind of interiors can be enhanced forever, and it's easy to change things in phases, and so to see improvements almost in real time!
I think you could put some more efforts in this render, and change a little things to make it better and better. I suggest you try with the floor mat: now it seems something like a kind of waxed cardboard, and i think that's not you aim.. Try having a look at www.arroway.de, they have very nice wood textures! Next, i'd try to concentrate the scene on the couches, focusing more on them, and letting the background blurry. This could be achieved with a closer camera, and a smaller f-stop (try f/4 or f/5.6, for example, but you'll have to get neare to your subject in order to see it on focus). Perhaps, a little camera roll could be an idea..
The plaster need also a little more work: the red one can indeed be enhanced easily, in my opinion. Instead of a simple colour, you could texture it (i attach a plaster i recently use that's tileable), and add it a little bump. The white one now is kind of yellowish, try setting it a little whiter, and adding it a subtle bump.
The carpet is really lovely! And nice shape those vases have!
Yes: i'd really like to see more of this: it can end up a masterpiece!
PS. it should be easier to help you if we knew what application you use for modelling..

- This is already tileable, as i said. You may want to open it in Photoshop to change its hue to fit your needs!
