Vizdepot Charette

Post by kwistenbiebel » Wed Mar 19, 2008 12:25 am

Hi all,

There is a new Charette over at Vizdepot .
Currently the charette is at the clayrender stage but I couldn't wait to go texture the model and add instanced vegetation.

Here's my result using Skindigo
I hope you like it.

Off course, comments are welcome.

regards,
Kwistenbiebel

Very nice. Only comment I have is: straighten that camera out, soldier! :D

Omfg. This render is just absolutely amazing!

Just one thing: The stones look very flat. Try a bumpmap or even better, displacement.

Great work!

Thank you stinkie and Simon :)

I would love to use displacement but I am not sure skindigo supports it...
And yes, the camera angle is an experiment (still have to learn some things about composition).

While you're at it: some bump on that bench's legs would work well too.

I don't think SkIndigo supports displacement.

On composition my painting teacher used to say: don't overdo it, simple is best. He was right. Think of Vermeer. Or Le Corbusier's drawings.

You could always do displacement in Blender and import it in Sketchup.

kwistenbiebel, this image is superb! I like your choice of plants too, they look pretty good. I was wondering what you used for your shingle siding? Is it geometry? A strong bump? None of the above? I recently tried to get some shingles going on a house but they always appeared rather flat -- yours look awesome.

Nice work!

Hey, very nice image.
May I ask from where did you get the trees?
They look quite good.

Thank you all for the comments. :)

@SimonLarsen:to be honest, the learning curve of Blender scares me a little...

@Cpfresh: I'll pm you the siding texture

@Suvakes: I use vegetation from various sources: 3dwarehouse, Xfrog and sometimes Evermotion (the naked tree).

A little night shot update.
The pavement needs work and for some strange reason the smoothing on some plants went wrong:
