Stained glass quickie

Post by supraserv » Fri May 25, 2007 7:49 am

Frosty glass with diffuse transmitter. Border gaussian blurred in GIMP (mainly to remove noise). Rendered for 7h at 1538x2183. Had to finish cooking it because of deadline but I will possibly go back to find out how much I can get out of it.

The words refer to three towns in my region.

why didn't you use Violet-internal noiseremoveing?

Ok, i didn't use it either, yet, except in a quite clean test-render...
But I guess, it should be way better, than gausian blur...

The blur gave a look of a wall texture and a texture of concrete was actually applied to it. Violet was behaving badly when I tried to do bloom and chromatic aberration so I gave up.

hum... strange...

cromatic dispersion wont look too good, with high values, I guess...

The standard is 0.001, right?
Doesn't matter: I mostly use 1/10 of the standard value.

which bloom are you using?
I guess, your tonemapping is reinhard?
What about glare?

Can I be completely honest?

..you could've done that in photoshop and not waited 7h for the results.

I don't mean to downplay your work, it looks great.

But I don't see anything there that requires Indigo, IMO.
