This serie is more pictural, I like it still.
You have to modify the ratio between the focal distance and the aperture radius to modify the size of diffraction.

F-stop
Maybe the scattering was making a difference, water is not that similar between each version...

As it turns out, I modified the shader code before I sent the scene to you. oops!

The diffraction effect turns out to be pretty big (..what's the parameter to reduce the size? to be continued..), if you have an inspective eye you can spot two big artifact caused by don't know what.
Other tests will follow.
These (and previous ones) are awesome!
You can reduce the effect of the diffraction by using a larger aperature (f11, f8, etc.).

You guys know that these posts of mine are something about 2 years old..
Would have helped a lot to know good things about diffraction back then!
But don't worry: I've still got a lot to learn from diffraction and its several tricks: hope I can bother you guys with some more tests and questions soon!

Just found this old post and wonder what kind of map was used to create these beautiful waves...
Perhaps someone can push me in the right direction, or give me a hint where I find a nice bumpmap to achieve some rippled waves for a quayside... Or share one

In my case it was not a map but some kind of shader that Dale shared some...years ago.
I think you could try something like the one Ono suggests in his 'how to make a pool in sketchup' tutorial
