Re: A vintage phone
What a great piece!!
Since its so awesome there are quite some spots to improve that flesh out:
The phone cord needs some subdiv!
Same for the half circle gold part that holds the earphone.
The outer spehers of the Golden T thing with the "drops" beneath them miss normal smoothing.
The red wooden material has some UV errors in the center of the handle, and some on the edges on the bottom.
Also please don't rape such great art by that high JPG compression, its a shame

That tarnished + fingerprinted bronze material is just amazing!
Re: A vintage phone
Its strange i didnt noticed these spots until Zom-B pointed them out. Thanks, man. I'm going to fix them as soon as i have some time. And as for the jpg compression im converting the image in this format to be able to upload it here because im a little lame with the image compression.

Thats quite normal for everyone working for some time on a project, you start to get "blind" for some issues. Happens to me all the timepenkroff wrote:Its strange i didnt noticed these spots until Zom-B pointed them out. Thanks, man. I'm going to fix them as soon as i have some time.
If you aren't in hurry for a deadline taking a brake helps here, don't look at you project for a day and return to it refreshed...
afaik there is a limitation of 500kb for JPGs, uploading a PNG could pass around this restriction...penkroff wrote:And as for the jpg compression im converting the image in this format to be able to upload it here because im a little lame with the image compression.
Keep on rocking!

I'm always happy to share my recommendation for JPEG compression:
1. Use IrfanView: http://www.irfanview.com/main_download_engl.htm
2. Disable colour subsampling when saving. This subsampling is what normally makes JPEG horrible for reds and sharp edges, and is the crucial step for a good result: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3038174/img/ho ... images.png
3. Use quality 94-97%

Re: A vintage phone
afaik PS uses "color subsampling" if you drop JPG quality down to lower then 51 (or lower then 6 for web saving)

Re: A vintage phone
I think Photoshop ALWAYS uses colour subsampling unfortunately - lame! Anyone saving images with quality < 80% shouldn't be using Indigo anyway
With the GIMP there's at least an option, but I dislike that particular bit of software personally...
