..et voilà a perfect tutorial about SkIndigo linked materials!

Thanks Etienne!

Don't know what I was thinking. Apparently it wasn't too much
I'd proceed the same way - by scaling the UV mapping - in Blender.

galinette wrote:That's not a problem of material definition, but UV mapping scaling in sketchup.

How to arrange this:
1) Create a material in sketchup. In the sketchup material properties, set the texture file to the bump image of the wet material (you may have to extract it from the material file). You may set some semi-opacity if you want to see the material transparent in sketchup.
2)Apply this material to the glass object. Then scale the UV mapping with either:
- Changing the tile size in the sketchup material toolbox
- Use the sketchup UV mapping tool (right click on the selected surface) to arrange the mapping to whatever you want
3) Go to the skindigo material properties. Set material type as "linked igm" and set the path to your wet glass material.

In that way, you control exactly the size of UV mapping for your material.

And it works! Etienne, you are a legend :) Thanks so much. I didn't even realise you could link igm data to sketchup textures. Winner!

Proof!

Look ok to me. I've made them larger that they really should be in those images, purely to show the ability to resize, so they're not really that obtrusive if used properly.

It seems to me that the bump mapping is overscaled on the height axis. You could try to decrease the bump mapping coefficient in the material editor.

Or maybe there is a heightmap precision error.

The way Indigo works for scaling bump maps is somewhat weird. If you scale down a UV mapped mesh, the bump is not working properly unless you decrease the bump scaling by the same ratio. In other words, bump mapped materials are not invariant by scaling down the whole scene. It should be possible to activate an alternative mode in the bump mapping parameter, where it scales correctly with the UV mapping.

Very cool. How does one make that into an Indigo texture?

Got to say, I'm not particularly au fait with the material editor...One day I'll sit down with it and learn it (unless theres already a tutorial around somewhere).

Get rid of the JPG noise before using this map, otherwise its quite ugly for closeups!

The Material Editor is just a possebillity to outperform a crappy exporter regarding the material creation process, but in theory it shouldn't be able to do "more" then a exporter itself!
