HELP. SkIndigo UI renovation

Post by Pibuz » Sat Jun 25, 2011 3:14 am

Sorry guys: this is an open call to anyone experienced in UIs design.

Whaat is doing a really hard work about the sub-structure of SkIndigo. Great progresses have been done to the core coding, but I feel like something's missing, and that probably is some more appealing and good-looking interface.

Can anyone of you guys work on his spare time to give some ideas of a new interface? I'd do it myself, but I assure you guys I really suck at designing interfaces, while I see some of you are really good at it.
I don't know which code Whaat used to display the windows, but there will be the need to update the graphics, in a second phase.

BY THIS I DON'T MEAN IN ANY WAY TO BLAME WHAAT AND HIS WONDERFUL WORK. I'm only thinking that he maybe needs an additional help concerning the graphic design.

Hope some of you can SkIndigo climb another cliff

Thank you a lot!

PS. I attach two pictures of what the UI looks like right now.

I do believe that function is a priority, so here is my mockup of something awesome.

Where to, Sir ? Lol nice though :D

Well I'm kind of disovering the SkIndigo UI, and for the least it is functional and tight. Are you concerned with ergonomics or esthetics, Pibuz ? Just to get you right, it has to be me ^^

Suggestions for improvements are always welcome, Indigo wouldn't be there if it wasn't for the users !

Hi CTZn!
Yes, it is better to make sure

I referred to the esthetic part only. The structure is excellent.

Hi Pibuz,

The dialogs are all coded in HTML and could probably use some better styling. The problem that I have found (partially due to my lack of experience in design) is that if I try to make improvements to the UI on a PC, it will look like crap on a Mac and vice versa.

What I should try and do is re-organize the styling code so that it would be easier to users to write custom CSS files or (themes). That way, if someone came up with a really good theme that would look good on both PCs and Mac, I could then put it in the distribution.
