SketchUP- problem with resuming rendering

Post by Itts » Tue Nov 30, 2010 4:10 am

hi all,
I tried today to resume rendering. So i started rendering a scene , then paused, saved the scene using 'File>Save Scene' , and saved the image as .IGI file, using the button on the top ( ' save image ' ). I closed Indigo, opened it again, then tried resuming my rendering using ' File> resume render from IGI '. i've chosen correct files which , as I said , I saved before, but the rendering did not resume, only appeared an information :
" A problem occurred with the scene:
SceneLoaderExcep: Failed to open file 'C:\Users\...\Desktop\default-meshes.igs'.
Please contact support@indigorenderer.com. "

i tried it many times with few different scenes, but the result was the same all the time.
what can I do ?
I'm using sketchUp 6 + Indigo Renderer v2.2.12, Windows 32-bit Release build.
please help me, I can't leave my computer for about 20 hours to comoplete the rendering :)

Howdy,

You need to export your scene from whatver your modelling package is - for example in sketchup, go to plugins > SKindigo > export scene as and then you can export the scene as a .igs file. You can do this anytime you like, ie before you render or after you've started rendering, so just open your scene now and export it.

When running a render if you want to stop and resume you'll need this exported .igs file (scene file) and you'll also need the .igi file (image file). Assuming you have both of those, just open Indigo and hit Ctrl-R to resume and indigo will ask for the .igs file first, so point it to where its saved then it'll ask for the .igi file, again point indigo in the right direction and after a bit of thinking the render will resume. Check the time lapsed at the bottom left to confirm its resuming from where you left off.

Note all your camera settings will be reverted to Reinhard default, so you'll need to tweak anything in image settings, light layers etc that you originally had going. May be a way around this but not sure.

Hope that helps!

PS - I think the important thing is not to change the geometry of your model after you've started rendering if you ever want to resume tnat particular render otherwise the igi file won't match the igs file but I could be wrong on this point....

thanks ! i think that it will work, but I found another problem.
indigo starts opening the scene, but soon after that appeared :
"A problem occurred with the scene:
Resuming buffer width does not match: 2004 vs 3004"
i was rendering in 1000 x 700 px resolution... how can i change it ?

That's a good point, I've put in a request for .pigs support which will help (along with auto-resolution matching).

At the moment, what you can do is when saving the scene and IGI, save scene as .pigs.
On resume, load the scene for render first, then tools > unpack. This will unpack the .pigs. You can now resume with the IGI and unpacked .igs.

I had a similar problem.
I built the scene on my iMAc and then started to render in my macbook. Then I wanted to resume the render on my iMac again and there is a problem because of different buffer numbers (I don't know if this has anything to do with my MBP having 3GB ram and my iMAc having 2GB ram.

I'll stop fooling around with my scenes and just resume renders on the same pc they were created.
