WIP - 4 Rooms

Post by PowStudios » Sun Mar 21, 2010 12:04 am

Hi,

I opened up my 'own' thread for my ground-floor apartment. My goal is too achieve more realism. I'm a big fan of dcm et. al. If anyone has hints how to improve the scene please let me know. FIrst of all I repost my pictures from the simple rendering thread.

WIP - different perspective, changed desk material, obvious aperture diffraction. Would be nice to have a finer control of the AD.

1127 s/p still very noisy. Maybe due to the light setup.

WIP - changed some material parameters (higher exponents) and geometry (chair). Too heavy AD.

For my taste your images are not very sharp, what is your splat filter/downsize filter?
Also check your camera focus.... raise the f-sop to avoid dof blur.

Interiors tend to be quite noisy... even with 1000k samples.

Definitely not very sharp. Later pictures are high f-stop for testing the aperture diffraction. Autofocus.

I try to setup more lights without loosing distinct shadows.

hmm, 1000k and still noisy? How do guys like dcm, bbb or htciper get their photograph-like pictures..?

I'll try to remodel some scenes from the gallery to find out. These are great:

And of course all dcm renders!

Cheers,

The accuracy is looking quite good. It's just the weird camera angles that throw me (I know they're tests, but still...). That last image is topsy-turvey, a really weird angle.
I think so far, the best shot is the third; "Night shot" from the first post. Really nice composition and has visual interest from the usual shadows.

Its not only about modeling and setting up great textures.... its like photography. If I take a photo of my messy workplace it looks like one... a skilled photographer can still make great pictures by composing the image and creating interesting scenarios just by moving the camera!

Like soup already mentioned... your 3rd image is great composed one!

Hi,

Zom-B: I've used your nice parquet a long time

There is definitely room for perfect renders in indigo. I always thought only maxwell or fryrender could do the job. But to define a photo-realistic scene is a hard job.

Here is another test-render @2270 s/p. Super-noisy, but so what I just post it, it's free.

About the lighting setup: it's almost totally indirect, check how metropolis is performing alone.

How to do that? In Blendigo there are only two buttons: BiDir on/off and MLT on/off. Do I have to modify the scene file for further adjustments?
