No bump maps and no SSS, Indigo really doesn't make organic modeling too comfortable. But I don't want to do another bathroom nor do I want to go back to raytracer village, so there you go. :)

although my only attempt at organic modeling turned out looking like a head of cabbage (it was meant to be my head), his belly button looks funky ;p :roll:

Does blender have a symmetry object that you are using?

cant wait to see what he looks like in the end!

Yeah, it's called a "mirror modifier". I'll add asymmetries in the end when I'm done with the basic shapes. And you're right, the belly button looks a little off, I'm going to fix that tomorrow. Last quick update before I'm gonna drop dead into my bed:
