flowers in a vase

Pretty simple: some roses in a vase. The flowers themselves are a blend of a diffuse transmitter with a regular diffuse material. I'm not sure what's going on with fireflys on the petals, they don't go away with increased render time. As a side note, I noticed that the water in the vase renders black everytime unless bidir is on. Is that normal? (I'm using 0.8 by the way)

Nope, that shouldn't be happening.
