Flower through Waterdrop
Flower through Waterdrop
Hi all,
First of all thx to Ono for the wonderful piece of work called Indigo!
I do not have time to do large projects, so I'm limited to smaller experiments. One of them turned out quite nice I think ....
I got the idea from Photographs off of www.photo.net ...
The materials are just basics without textures or maps, all diffuse except for the water of course.
No postpro, only resize in Gimp.
So here it is...

ahhhh... but of course it is supposed to be shot in studio
..
Actually i have shot flowers in bright daylight with a real camera. To get the right contrast on the flowers head you have to set the exposure time real short and so most probably the whole background will fade to black anyway.
But of course in this render there is nothing to be seen in the background ...
What I was after is the blurring of the flower in the background but the sharpness of it in the drop which turned out good ...

cool.
if you ask me this is a perfect scene to try the cauchy_b-feature out.
0.003 is a realistic value for water but you may increase this value a bit to strengthen the effect.

Here's a quick try with an environment map lighting the scene..
The blueish color looks strange (lit from the sky), but overall more interesting I think...
@mrCarnivore: I don't like the drop either but I think it'll do for an experiment
@manitwo: I'll try if I find the time...

Well, i tried another exr (which i converted from a jpg so it's not that great
) and added a little cauchy. I also added a (bad) texture for the wood.
IMHO it doesn't look bad but alot could be tweaked i guess, like a real exr to start with =). The flower should stand out more (contrast-wise) but I blame that on the bad exr
That is as far as i want to take it but maybe I'll have another go on another subject ....
Thx for the feedback!
