(WIP) China caffè

Post by 8bstudio » Fri Mar 02, 2007 9:29 pm

Here another wip for my work:
a caffè set from China!
I'm not satisfied about sugar... maybe I must model it and don't use only bumb?!

Ciao!

Nice, but the tone is way too dimmed for my taste, I would pump prescale like x2 !

As for sugar I dont know, the specularity seems too strong maybe, and it should definitly be (almost) opaque with sub surface scattering, sugar is a cristal so maybe go for a glossy transparent.

Yes CTZn, I definitly try with indigov0.7 and its advantages for SSS and glass carateristics!

Now I pump pre-scale or I add some brightness with PS as you said me!
Thanks!

very good 8bstudio.

some crits tho:
- as you already mentioned, the sugar material. also the edges of your sugar cubes are too sharp - bevel them.
- are the chinese letters meshes? if yes, use textures instead and use a blurred bumpmap - will give good results i think.
- the wood-material is really good i think.
- the "walls" of your cup are too thick imo.
- you may model the meniscus of the coffee surface, like this
- as already mentioned, overlall brightness and contrast (new indigotonemapper will help  )
- keep it up! :)

Very nice, but two things, I'd add (or change) just for realism:
Chinese prefer tea, I'd say :D
Most chinese spoones are made of china...
Maybe, you can make it extravagant and use Jade-letters :D

("Jade" = Image, "-" = resource (indigo-forum), "letters" = download with 10 Mats ;))

A lot better already :D
Tea (at least green tea) wont need SSS...
But the sugar and coffee... And I'd say, the china too :D

Hmmm... Can you use a camera-perspective from above the cup?
I think, the tea a bit dark...
Also, most green tea, actually looks yellow. It's called "green" 'cause of the leafes... Only really few sorts are geenish...
I wonder, what these edges inside the cup are?

I can't find a typical chinese green tea, which uses to be more yellow, but you can take this japanese green tea - a green looking jade dew tea - as a reference :D

HI! Here after your comments:
1. the tea seems more green now. Before it had also a normal smoothed problem! Now mesh hasn't smoothed normal!
2. I changed caffe mesh.
3. Sugar... to do!!

Wow... I love the crinkled wrapping paper for the chocolate.
I think you should do a close-up of just a few wrapped chocolates :)
