No worries. We do have broadband here, but still, no point uploading images that are over a megabyte if we can have them cheaper.

After talking in a topic recently http://www.indigorenderer.com/joomla/fo ... php?t=4148 I realized I have never tried to do a multi mat transparent mesh thing. One half of sphere is red and other half is green. Red half is frosted, green half is clear. So here it is:

I set up a little studio this time. Made a quick dog. Material is glass, emitters inside, gave it thickness (it has two layers).....

I stopped it at 15 hours or so...didn't like the result. I would like to try bidir and change lighting to see if more caustics will show up. Also I will remove multi material as it did not work out like I wanted it to.

So this was only a quickie model but I thought it was worth posting. Boolean operations I used to put the pieces together ended up destroying the mesh. It has errors all over it and that is probably why some of the areas look funny. Also the double layer may be causing some trouble. :)

Studio setup sort of thing. I made the box texture in GIMP My U/V mapping could be a bit better around the edges, but it was just something I threw together real quick 'cause I was bored and Hardy had just come out. I think I'll make the light color less intense next time. I love that tutorial on studio setups, though. It taught me a lot about how to do this kind of thing.

Orange Tree

Post by Johan » Sun May 25, 2008 2:51 am

This was my first testrender using Indigo. The glossy reflections is by far the best I´ve seen.

Compared the scene using Fry Render and Maxwell.
The first "main" reason for me to test Indigo was there is no support for 3dsmax 2009 yet, in other unbiased render engines. I had to use an old version of c4d to render in Fry and Maxwell.

Iam testing the workflow between Revit 2009 and 3dsmax 2009. Hence why I really need 3dsmax 2009. Cad link works ofcourse like before, but Iam testing the new fbx export/importer.

Happy to be here.
Cheers

That render is most zen. A feeling of wholeness.
Very nice :)

Greeny

Post by Qwaszt » Tue May 27, 2008 9:46 pm

Hi all my first green vegetation test.
Well almost everything belongs to BbB (again thank you very much), trees, grass and water bump map.

But still i had to give it a go, and also a first try with the well known ivy-generator.
Maybe someday this will lead to something...

And my first night test.

Lights are difficult to set, i think. I am still not sure how to use the efficacy scale. But a lot of trying and testing will eventually lead to something.

One question though:
The "Max depth" parameter is also of influence of the power of the lights?

Because when i set them really low (i.e. 50) then the green lights under water won't spread as far as when i set the max depth at "1000" , which was the setting in the posted picture, but then i had to lower the power of the lights otherwise the lights would be blinding bright.

Anyway on to something new.
