I'm a bit confused, now
What's the problem? xD
on the very first render u can see the windowblinds - which are of diff transparent white material - as light passes through them - they look very good from "inside", when i started to setup for a night version - they were rendering as completely black...so i had to change the material to diff with no transparency...i think it is related to "frontlight / backlight" situation. same with lampshade - in sunshine it looks good - pure diff, during night scene render - it has to be transparent - so i turned ON transp - but the inner layer/side of the lampshade rendered black...thats why im confused...

I never use pure diffs trans. Always blended either with a normal diffuse mat or (if you want translucent glass or plastic) a phong mat. It always works a charm for me.

Easy as pie. Just create a diffuse map with the colour you want and make it transparent. Then create another mat and copy the settings of your diffuse trans in this mat (in order to get the exact same RGB value). Then turn this mat into a phong with IOR of 1.5 and exponent of 500,000. Now blend these two mats at 50 per cent and apply this to your mesh. You got yourself a nice transluscent glass lampshade.
