Great concept! (I'll have to tackle a similar project for our new (but very old!) house during summer and I really wish I had your architect's eye

)
and btw I love the glitchy couch, makes it look so surreal! Have to watch it again and again...

Well, poly: I am at hire for abroad projects too
BTW, I did a little more testing with this. I post a new version, with all the light well lit-up and all the objects.
Lamp on the right, to be corrected. Floor: WRONG! I also have to figure out why the lamp over the table is not exporting correctly the lightbulb inside.. This should be an easy one
Cheers!

Looks great - the one with the slight post-production is very nice to look at with the warm tone and subtle chromatic aberration.
Do you use IES profiles for your lights?

Hi Oscar thanks!
In this scene I'm using IES profile only for the spotlights: should I use something for the neons and the led stripes?

Not at all, was just wondering because I thought the spots looked really good.

That's definitely a better distribution. uh!, there wasn't a kitchen before?.
Also good photo eye you have. :)
Just a question, did you find any good looking cloth material? I tried the velvet material from here
http://www.indigorenderer.com/forum/vie ... 23&t=10571 but looks so far from what I expected.
If you're not in a hurry and if needed I could give you a hand on the missing carpet in the foreground.

Hi fenerolina thanks!
I rarely use "cloth" materials, I usually work with simple low exp phongs or even diffuse shaders, since cloth is almost never the protagonist of my shots. I suggested some times a velvet shader to be implemented, but seems like it's more complicated that I thought.
Actually, I didn't put a carpet in the scene because I wanted the floor to be seen
But I'd really appreciate your support, if you're willing to share a technique!

There's one more. Sadly, still WIP because the couch mat is TERRIBLE!
..moreover, Fenerolina's question about the missing carpet is killing me: it's important to see the floor, but a carpet really heats up the look of a room indeed..

Am I correct in reading that your couch mat is just a simple colour and not a texture? If you got that couch from the same (free) place as I did, I'm pretty sure it had textures with it... I might be able to help you out with a textured obj if you want... PM me if I can be of assistance.

I tried using one I got from sketchuptexture, but kept on giving me errors while rendering (don't know why, asked Ono), maybe some strange issue of degenerated triangles or something..
That one had textures applied, but all messy so I decided to give the plain colour a go; at the moment I'm rendering a new image with a (much better) external OBJ bought from Designconnected (actually, that was a part of the prize of one of the latest comptetitions

)

Do you use Artisan for Sketchup? I found it helpful to use it for improving models from the 3d warehouse, smoothing vertex, reducing polygons, adding triangels etc. Perhaps it helps to fix your damaged couch...

Problem is that in SU there are no degenerated triangles, and no reversed normals. So that is quite ununderstandable to me, and impossible to fix..

May I have a look? Send me the wrong parts of the sofa if you want.
For the carpet there's no special technique for me now in skp . It's a bit of time because I have to remember how to make them in 3dmax etc. But a red carpet similar to the picture in the wall would 'glisse glisse' don't you think? Give me the measures and shape and we will see.
Here's an example I made at the beginning winter (a bit messy). It doesn't look good in closeups actually, I don't know how to export other geometry than tubes.
For all skp users: you will have to rename the path or redirect the component to the obj. file.

Thanks fene, much appreciated!
I am currently running a render with a complex obj carpet. I'll upload the image this evening. Maybe I could share it if you're interested.
