Mmh no, but you did, rather, through the UI.
Mus Lee wrote:Now, when I want to resume render with different settings than at the beginning, just in case, I edit a 'settings.igs' file with notepad.
That's the way, the other one around is to export the exact same scene with the rendering mode you want. However your way is "safer" in that sense that you are sure that nothing else was changed in the scene.

Simply put, IGI files are not storing the rendering mode, only IGS do. In the other hand, changing parameters in the GUI do not modify the IGS.

Probably a menu item like "Write current settings to IGS" would be a reasonable request :) edit: the request was added internally, suggesting the options to overwrite the current IGS file or to create a new one.

An accident ?

Thank you fused ! However, I was aiming at something usefull I have in mind for a moment, I know what my mistake was. You know I'm often putting the cart before the horse... I am pretty excited I got into ISL a bit, finally !

Also I'm willing to make an ISL tutorial based on that planned material. What you are seeing is an attempt to an enhanced marble wich will be part of that project :)

Both are sampling the same texture for the color palette, but the second image posted is not issued from the first.

Exactly, the first picture is a quantization (aka pixelisation) of the reference map wich is then perturbed in U and V by two distinct fractals, while in the second the reference map is perturbed by those fractalish UVs wich are in turn augmented by the quantization of a third fractal. Nevermind :D I'll create a dedicated WIP. A comprehensive introduction to ISL should be another matter, though Ono announced its successor, so... wait and see.

ENSLAVER, at least your eye is not capturing beauty at random !!!

Lol PureSpider. Awesome thread indeed.

CTZn, interesting experiment you've got going on. Would like to see how it looks like in a real scene :D

Nice work on the islands ENSLAVER, really looking forward how you're going to improve it! Maybe add some
white "foam" on the shores, although I think you've already noticed yourself to do so..

That will come, FoXar. The marble tiles development topic.

I'm posting one last dev pic here, because the previous color scheme was so poor:
