Ok, good morning to everyone!
I found box.net something quite understandable to me, so here's the link to the RAR file. Hope it works.. :roll:

http://www.box.net/shared/z5rktaem8c

You'll find several materials inside already; for the uploaded picture i obviously used the clay mode rendering, and i picked STANDARD GREY from the drop down list. Do a little purge before doing anything, there are a mat or two which i didn't delete. Oh, and you'll find a mat called "blue tiles" applied to the pool walls: i used that for a small try, but i forgot to purge it. Free to delete it, obviously.

Now, go sketchy!

Ok, guys: i found the model needed a little tweaking to be improved a little. So here it is.
1. Flattened the left recliner not to be floating 20 cm up the floor;
2. Randomized the z-axis rotation of the planters behind the recliners
3. Positioned a new instanced tree out of the scene, on the right, to get a non uniform shading from the sun
4. Added the plastic pool border, where water flows into instead of flooding the green when it overcomes the border;
5. Added instances of the modeled grass patch courtesy of Bbb;
6. Changed the position of the left table and chairs, cos it was intersecting the handrail or the stairway.

I think i'm quite finished with the modeling, now. I should update the link to the rar file, if anyone is still interested.. I think i'll close the scene for a while, and then re open it tomorrow: this usually helps me to see what is missing and what doesn't work so good..

ALLRIGHT! I'll do what i can, since i never exported from sketch to OBJ, so i don't know the bugs you probably (read: for sure) will encounter. But with a little patience... :wink:

So: i re-opened my scene, and what i really find unstandable are the LAMPS!!So, any of you has a good model he thinks is ok with this kind of environment to share? Skp models would be the top, but i can accept 3ds models too, for this time.. :wink:

Erm... the obj comes into one piece in Maya, it's totally unmanageable for my graphic board to work on a per_face basis (selecting one face takes up to 1mn30); my usual converter crashes immediatly, it can't read the mesh. Trying to separate the meshes is out of focus for a 32bit build of Maya (on a 32b system anyway), it blows the 2Gb limit.

If there is an option in blender (edit: arf, Sketchup I meant) to export to multiple objects (into one obj file) that'd be much appreciated cause it's a dead project right now as far as I'm concerned...

..uhm.. the problem is that it's a sketchup model, not a blender file..i'll try to divide it in objects, but i see this a little difficult.. sorry :oops:

No problem, even a blend would not help me :)

Fair enough, maybe I'll try with houdini, but it's not an easy soft, may it be powerfull.

So..I'm proceeding..Slowly, but with little satisfactions, i must say :D
Since i couldn't stand the original lights poles, i designed one myself.. I encountered problems with the UVmapping, but found a workaround to avoid them. I'm not too happy with the result of the modeling of the new lighting elements, actually, but there is always some room for improvements. This image has cooked a very little time, so it's very noisy..To clean it a little i resized it a little smaller..
I'll upload a newer image with some changes later!

Maybe put reflectors out-of-frame to reflect some light back ? Big ones, quite far (15 to 40 meters from the scene bounding box; well, that depends on their size).
