Lol, actually, the atmosphere is realistic as it is, here ;)
Indigo has an own atmosphere material, which he used, on this picture. The whole thing is basically *real* scaled ;)

water is harder. But I doubt, you'd see any wave patterns from that distance :P Also the clouds should look pretty flat from this distance ;)

Just the ground might show differences in reflectivity... That might be true :)

That "believable atmosphere", you see on renders is far too strong, in most cases :P - in fact, it usually is barely or not at all visible, as it is here ;)

Thanks for your replies. He's got a nice image there. I was looking for something a little more thought provoking and I found his image to be a little 2 dimensional and "glared out" for lack of a better description. I can't really put my finger on it really but it's something to do with scale I think.

scale and distance is entirely correct...
I'm not sure about it, but I think, the moon as assigned a bit wrong...

And a shot with the new version of Indigo, where the earth is much more in close up, to actually see the atmosphere, and the sun just starts to show behind the earth (sun rise from POV of Universe :D) would be soooo cool :D

Just the stars might be wrong. They're post-processed...
oh, and maybe, the clouds would look much more blue trough the atmosphere, if they where SSS-volumes... :)
