Big nipple Buddha

Post by Zom-B » Tue Jan 23, 2007 9:04 pm

Here a new composition...

The Buddha is from Aim-at-Shape and the rest of the Scene is mostly simple Texture work (I'm a modeling n00b!)

First boring upper front perspective... lighten up by a HDRI
(I know the bamboo carpet doesn't tile  )

Image

Another (much more interesting) rendering of this Scene is just cooking, so expect some updates

P.S.
Color, Saturation & Co are heavily postprocessed

OK... here a Preview (1h rendering) of the second Camera Perspective!
DOF as usual Postprozessed... also a subtile Ambient Occlusion Layer done in C4D.

feel free to C&C (Command & Conquer isn't meant :P )

I like the second one better.
DOF feels a bit un-natural though. Looks quite ok for a few cm toy Buddha on a table or something, but doesn't suit well for this scene i think. Otherwize nice.

is this 0.6 ?
you should give SSS in 0.7 test 1 or 2 a go ;-)
It's 0.7t2...
I played around a lot with SSS, but I simply have no clue about all the parameters, what they do exactly and how high/low you can/have to set them to archive a result I'm targeting at... Also the rendering needs a long time until you can see how it will look like...

I would like to try a Jade Buddha soon... I tried long time to get a SSS Jade Material done, does anybody perhaps know a source to get some usable numbers for Jade???

I like the second one much more too...
its typical about DOF letting your renderings look like miniatures,
I try a much lower settings on the final Image

The second one looks better. Maybe a little too much DOF. Great work ! :D

Hey ZomB, I like your images ! And yes, sub-surface scattering is verrry slow to converge, every single point in the volume has a single, different, non-deterministic colour... makes more than just pixels to compute :)
