Couple questions on my first image...

This is my first render....it's not very good, but I'm happy with the progress. I do have a few questions about some of these mistakes. This was all done in VIZ and exported with u3dreal's exporter.

First of all...I can't get my image to not be blury somewhere...I'm not getthing the depth of field. I took photography a while ago, so I get the basics...but for some reason I'm just not getting it here. Right now my aperature is at 22 and my shutter speed is at 385. I thought that the smaller your aperature size was, the more in focus your whole image would be. 22 is one step away from being the smallest. Why is it doing this?

Secondly, I'm getting some pretty nasty light leaks over by the windows. I checked my geometry, and my walls and floors are overlapping properly. I'm using u3dreal's exporter...

Thirdly, what is the proper settings for a mirror? I'm using glass with no transparency....That didn't seem to work out as well as I had hoped in some instances.

Thank you guys...I'm really digging this software.

1: to not get a blurry image, just set the f/stop up to like 32, guaranteed dof-free :D

2: the light leaks are caused by the sunlight... though the exposure is sort of bad, since the rest of the room is dark. if the exposure were higher, then you'd see the room be bright and the light leaks be really really bright. this is what's normal ;)

3: a mirror is an indigo phong material, all black diffuse color, specual color white, with the glossiness on max (100, but you might have to change it by hand to get it to a perfect mirror in the XML file)

Black Diffuse white spec

Off-White (.73 .73 .73) diffuse white spec

Both rendered to 8 mins. Interesting results, but should have baked longer.

Thank you for the advice...unfortunately, making the F-Stop 32 didn't fix it...although it did help.

Here is the new rendering.

Here is the top view of the camera:

The counterspace in the front---although more clear, is still blury. There are also still major light leaks. Somebody in the post said that it was normal with sunlight...obviously people have found a way around this. Is it Indigo or is it my geometry? Everthing is overlapping by a good amound, and all solid pieces of geometry are welded.

Thank you!

Aaron

PS...the mirror thing worked great, thanks!

hmm... you may want to increase the scale of your entire room, the thing is so small that probably this is causing the DOF ;)

Hey---thanks for all of your help...I did need to change the scale...I also played with the system scale settings. All is well now...except...I don't know if the light over the windows is a major light leak or if it's accurate....Mmm...

As my first rendering to play with settings and learn the ropes, I consider this a success.

Thanks!

Aaron
