my new project the trumpet

Post by saxophone » Wed Apr 23, 2008 7:09 am

Hi everybody, this is my first image with Indigo, 3DSMax2008 modelling and
10 rendering hour, but is still noisy.
I don't know if it simply question of time and to wait or if I made same mistake during the material setup or lighting (direct light+skylight)

C&C are welcome

Nice I like it!
But I think that the leather texture is too large.

Hey Ono,

I tested Indigo on my two last commercial projects (just to see what the result is). And I always had fireflies. A bit less with MLT, but with PT the fireflies didn't go away even at 12k samples per pixel. Also when using dispersion the result was unpredictable. With dispersion + PT I sometimes got random colored fireflies and with MLT I got multy-colored areas. Whenever there are caustics in the scene the result seems to be unprredictable here. Also those fireflies start glowing when there is aper.diffraction turned on (more with filter and less without it). (I've been too busy to make a bug report.. and i'm also not very sure if it's a bug or should i render my scenes longer, but I think 12k samples should be enough.) I won't post any images, cause this is saxo's thread and i don't want to ruin it with my garbage. 8)

Yes, I've been having pretty bad fireflies problems in my Aqua Interiors series. Looking at Saxo's trumpet reminded me of this. I should have mentioned it earlier too.

Damn pesky fireflies :)
Well if someone can make me a simple test scene showing fireflies and send it to me, I'd appreciate it.

Same here. No access to a scene right now.

Unfortunately I can't share the scenes. They are for the client and also too large in file size. I haven't had any issues with my small test scenes so I don't have a light weight scene that has this problem.

I'll see if I can replicate it with a small scene...
