building (16fl)

Post by nixite » Thu Nov 02, 2006 5:06 am

I have test render on this building:

But I'm not so glad, I want much realistic colors and soft shadows and more contrast. I don't know how to do it, any advice?

More contrast with soft shadows?
Use sharp colors.

Maybe what you want to try is a reflective material, I suppose you want the building to look like black or dark blue-green glass?

Give it a bit of specularity, a bit of mirror and IOR 1.5

Question: What 3D Modeller are you using?

DOF is way to strong I think. Gives the impression of a miniature ;)

1. Yes, modeller is Blender 2.42
2. Behrendt: what do you mean? Should I try to set much DOF (farther) or less aperture?

set the aperature to a smaller size. i agree, you wouldnt get that much DOF with any lens with a building this size. but thats up to you, of course.

Any advice: how to add sunlight in this scene?
I use just a HDRI map for scene light.

If you use sunlight, I have a feeling you will loose the soft shadows....

EDIT; What I mean is if that's the shadows you want. If you use skylight with sun you will have more contrast, and yes DOF is too strong, first try those two changes and see what you get.

No, I want to use HDRI map, but want have a sun flash on the building.
I have done new render, I have use color textures instead of simple phong.
facade panel have the next texture: Image
and the next material properties:
Col: R:0.245, G: 0.34, B: 0.474
Spe: R:0.2, G:0.2, B:0.2
--
Shaders:
CookTor
Spec: 1.0
Hard: 60

No mirror or trasparent,
Texure UV mapad to Col.

But render is:

Looks like a night shot, but I want have a more brightness and much colorful.
