Hello Everyone,
I've still got a bit of work to do on this - I hope to finish it up this weekend. I plan to add some content in the cabinet, and perhaps a sconce on the wall. Also, the sunlight will not be so direct covering the entire scene - perhaps through a window, and dappled with some kind of tree.

Hey, looking very nice! I really like the detail in the wooden trim at the bottom of the wall. Maybe a little beveling there on the corner?
If I were to change anything with the cabinet itself, I would make the hardware a little more robust.
Also, I was under the impression that that top molding you have on the cabinet was normally for full ceiling height pieces, but I could just be totally wrong there.
Overall, I like this piece because it seems to me that it takes a more unique look at interior space than I usually see.

Hi all,
Thanks for viewing - I think there is something I am missing with respect to materials. For the hardware, I have uv mapped, and am using the material type and settings shown in the attached image. I thought that I would be able to use the image for the uv map, and vary the exponent for surface shininess. However, it doesn't apper to have any effect. Am I using the wrong material type? Or is the only way to affect the exponent to also us an image map?
Thanks in advance.

Hmm, try exporting again, but this time, have "sep. mats" selected so you can look at the material xml. This may help you troubleshoot where the problem is occurring. Is it possible that the bump map is interfering with the visibility of the exponent? I'm also wondering why you want and exponent of 800,000 in the first place.
yttrium88,
I'm really not sure what I want, it's just that I have been bumping up the value trying to see any effect. I started much lower, and could tell in just a few passes that it was not having any effect.
I am in the middle of an updated WIP with a glass in the cabinet and some crown molding added at the ceiling. Once that is finished, I will try the some material settings in a separate blend file.
Thanks!

I like the wall paper textures etc., but the carpet seems to be missing, the wood on the cabinet seems to be computer generated (and the colours are a bit strange) and the other wood seems to be a bit low res (otherwise great).
Ah, and I think the modelling is pretty much flawless.

kadajawi,
The carpet is indeed missing...along with the upper crown molding on the wall, the sconce, and various contents in the cabinet - most of which is being rendered as we speak.
It is still a work in progress.
Also, it seems as though if you want to effect the exponent of a phong material, you can either use the exponent value (as long as there is no image being uv mapped) or map an image to the exponent value (as long as the exponent is set to a value of 1). At least that is how it appears from the little bit of testing I've done.
