There is a small set of paddles on the bottom that I have spinning VERY fast, kind of like a giant blender. (Heh, ironic...) I keyframed it to be spinning at 3,000 RPM. (50 rotations per second at 25 FPS = 2 rotations per frame.)

Yeah, size of 10m isn't working for me. 7 hours of baking at res 70 and still on frame 0. :x

Ok, stick to your version.
I wouldn't have the patience for even one hour!

Well, I'm baking at res 190 right now with a size of 1.5 m. Here's a quick render of my res 70 test. White point and tonemapping corrected with Violet.

I know, the fluid doesn't fully intersect the sides of the bowl. I'll fix it in the final piece.;)

looks GREAT!
Higher res would be even greater, but...
3h are crazy enough, already...

I like those caustics :D

Well, baking at res 190 had roughly the same effect as baking at 10m size. Do you think what I have is good enough, or should I try to get the resolution as high as I can? I don't know, it just looks too smooth to me... I'll also probably make the glass container a bit thinner.

you should go as high as possible, but if you're not patient enough (as me...), it's fine already.
Doesn't look "swirly" though.
yeah, those caustics really are great!!!

Ok, tonight I'll see if I can manage a res 80 bake.

The caustics are my favorite part! :D

you HAVE to make the caustics well visible, in the final, ok?
Try hundrets of light setups xD
But I think, the caustics right now, are good already.
Dunno, how it will look, when you use that tiled texture of the cg-sphere-scene...
Uhm... can you try to add bumpmap to the tiles? will look great, too, I guess :D (just use the same map, wthn different A B C, I guess)

Well, my computer pretty much died due to we think the motherboard. Fortunately I have copies of all of my .blend files on my USB flash drive. My 18th birthday is May 12, but my parents decided to make an early gift of a new motherboard, RAM, and CPU. :D

Old stats:
Socket 478 P4 2.4 Ghz
1 GB DDR 266 memory
250 GB P-ATA Seagate Barracuda HD
Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT AGP 8x
430 Watt PSU

New stats:
Socket LGA 775 P4 3.2 Ghz with HT
2 GB DDR2 533 memory (2 x 1 GB)
Same HD
Same graphics card
Same PSU

Can't wait 'till Newegg ships!
