small scenes wip

Post by drBouvierLeduc » Tue Mar 06, 2007 2:59 am

Hi,
I will post here several small scenes that I'm making at the moment, as they are not worth making a new thread for each one. I'm working on several at the same time, and none of them are yet finished.
My goal here is first to mimic an image (especially its lighting setup), than to make some variations.

So here is the first one, a simple scene.
the reference image :

and the renders :

different views :

blender's new curve modifier was extremly usefull for that kind of modelling.
Well that's all for the moment, will post updates soon.

EDIT : you've got to see the images from below to top... I don't know how to order attached images

update :

The chair is finished... Tried to recreate a studio lighting like on the reference picture. Still working on the complete scene, but god ! those studio lighting are hard to setup.
The chair itself was kinda tricky to do, each net has to be instanced (than the export time is only 10 sec, if not instanced, it takes something like 2 mn... morality : instancing is good).

Also two early snapshots of others scenes I'm working on.
I've got a weird problem on the top of the cushions : it's black and I don't know why. Normals are ok, uvmap is ok... I don't get it. It was ok, then it appeared suddenly after some little changes to the mesh...
Anyone has a clue ? (I'm working with blender).

Well that's it for now. More coming soon.

DOF is a bit too strong on last one. I would like to see more of the back of the chair. A bit too blurry at the moment and imo would look better with less.

[edit] I know - dof is cool, but it's very easy to over-use it

if the back of the cair is in focus the contrast between the front and back of the chair would be less.
I think its just perfect now.
But of course, as always, its a matter of taste

No, not in focus. That would sure ruin the depth. I mean just a little bit less blurry than it is now. Maby one f-stop value less or so..

But yep.. it 's a mather of taste

ctzn--> Raaah, thank you, I really can't figure out what's wrong here, and it's ruining all the scene... Will pm you.

Kojack, suvakas --> : sure, I agree, it is somehow too much blurry. I was focused on the lighting and didn't realize that when rendered. I will post a more-in-focus one later if I have time.
By the way, neepneep, if you read this, I tried your fresnel lamp, but I get very hard shadows... Am I doing something wrong ?

Thanks for the comments in general.
