Interior Test, need assistance
Re: Interior Test, need assistance
Well you can use a SPOTLIGHT and assign it to be the SUN in Maxingo. I guess what you are saying is that IF I were to not assign such spotlight as a SUN then it twould not work.
Re: Interior Test, need assistance
The spotlight here is just used as a positioning object in Maxigo so that Indigo knows where to place the Sun.
It don't get exported as a direct lightsource!

Re: Interior Test, need assistance
oh wow, so I wonder what happens if I change the intensity values or other parameters (of the light). Maybe they just get ignored.
have you tried a render when the light object is OFF ? does it still cast light from the sun?
Indigo is so simple yet so complex I am really liking it.

Re: Interior Test, need assistance
I actually working with C4D and Cindigo... so I basically don't have any idea about Maxigo ^^
But I know about Indigo so my assumption should be valid
In Indigo light works via materials that emit light, they have to be assigned to a mesh to be usable.
To allow a easy workflow some exporters also support "on-the-fly-conversion" of stuff like lightsources for example (Maxigo maybe does it to?!)
So during Export the Exporter simply generates a small mesh for your lightsource and applies a emitting material to it without any need for the user to interfere.
Doing lightsources "by hand" is the way to go for optimal control and best result.

Re: Interior Test, need assistance
Nope, Maxigo is not doing any light conversion.
Only lights you can use with Indigo in Max (besides meshlights) are photomertic lights with valid IES profile assigned. Those act more like 3ds Max lights (you can adjust the intensity and color)
