Violet R12 P1 beta3

Post by dougal2 » Tue May 08, 2007 5:26 am

Nothing major here really, just small bug fixes.

* added a checkbox for histogram display to en/disable it.
* compiled with VS 2005 = fixed crash on exit + smaller .exe size + support XP themes.
* enabled SSE2 optimisations.

getting better and better.
Thanks.

One very small request though : could you make that violet goes directly to the last opened directory when loading a new *.igi file ?
(perhaps by adding a checkbox "remember last directory" or something).
Ok, this is not a top priority feature, but could be usefull for us lazy violet users.

no, you're right. it's annoying for me when testing too. i'll look into how the dialogs are handled and what parameters I can pass.

Eh..well..it has gone worse for me.
Now it doesn't even start. Crashes right after i run the exe. I guess I'll have to wait for Ono to compile it.
but still.. great work dougal2! I hope to see/test those new features someday 8)

Heya Dougal, thanx for your work! ... and a quick question for you. ;o)

Is it possible for you to get the whole calculations multithreaded, or is
this something Nick has to take care about?! I'm just curious because
I noticed my "sleeping cores" when I was playing with Violet ... hehe.

take care

tbh, Violet isn't really suited to multithreaded calculation, since each process needs to be done in a set order on the image. It's not possible to compute two lots of results independantly and then merge them - as you can with indigo itself.

However, if anyone does think of a way to do it, let me know ;)

edit: damn joe, that sucks. I'll do some tests on my linux box when I get a little time. I might even try to compile a native linux version.

Also, Windows 64bit users, see attached ;)
