Question on exit portals

Post by Stinkie » Thu Dec 06, 2007 12:11 am

Is it possible to put an exit portal around a whole model? I mean: would it be useful to put your model inside an 'exit portal box'?

Just seems handy to me. ;)

An box out of exit portal would work the same way like basic background lightning, giving you 0% of speed up! (perhaps even slowdowns?!)
The Idea behind exit portals is to reduce the 360° light incoming, and focus it to the points where its needed (holes, windows etc.)

I'm not sure you understood exit portal, so do your homework and read this paper: http://www.fryrender.com/sh_images/tuts ... ortals.pdf

Thank you for the info. I could've done without the "do your homework" remark, though. Why don't you do some homework on bringing a point across in a civilised manner?

Nevertheless - thanks for the link. Should be an interesting read.
