SketchyPhysics
SketchyPhysics
CPhillips has recently released an alpha version of SketchyPhysics. It is an amzing SketchUp plugin with tons of potential. Here is a pic that shows some of the possibilities of using SketchyPhysics with Indigo.

done. I thought I'd make it a little more interesting (since you want to put it in the technical section) Final render has over 100,000 cars.

Oh my F*cking God.
This is simply stunning !
Whaat,
A little suggestion: Why not post this image in the 'final work' gallery section of the forum.
That's a section that most people check when coming in the forum.
If you would post it there, emphasizing it is made using Sketchup as modeler, this could be good promotion for Indigo + Skindigo.
Right now, the gallery section is too much a 'Blender' thing and people should start posting their Sketchup+(Sk)Indigo work....
By the way,
I did some experimenting (besides enjoying my deserved vacation) with your new script. Another amazing job you did there . Definitely the workflow has improved a lot. Double clicking any material in the SU material list opens up the skindigo material editor. Just brilliant !!!
There is still so much to discover...wish i had more time to really go much more in to it.
Thanks again for this nice plugin. It already is much more than just an exporter.
Regards,
Kwistenbiebel

Thanks, biebel
I have been doing a lot of UI tweaking lately. I hope the workflow will be much improved with the official release of 0.9. (Shadows do not have to be on to turn on the sun anymore
)
Glad you are enjoying your vacation. I hope you get to spend some more time using Indigo. There's a lot of features packed into that simplistic looking interface.
Your comments and criticism are always welcome!

I just started messing around with the physics plugin, but how did you get everything to freeze? I have some ideas that I want to render but I need everything to stop while it is up in the air.
BTW, the final car render looks great.
and Kbiebel is right, let's get some more SkIndigo stuff into the gallery!

First, pause the physics simulation when you are happy with the scene. (Play/pause button) In order to avoid the scene resetting, immediately save your SKP file (You will want to save it under a new filename). Now, close SU and reload your newly saved scene. The objects will still be in the state that you saved (frozen). Now you can finish off your scene without worrying about the scene resetting to its initial state.crc wrote:I just started messing around with the physics plugin, but how did you get everything to freeze?
This is the method I used. There may be another way to do this....
Whaat
P.S. I re-counted all of the cars in the scene. The grand total is over 126,000

I couldn't get on to the 3D Warehouse so I will just post the SKP here.
Let me know if you have problems. There is an issue with using instancing of components that are not scaled exactly uniform. For example, if you want to use your own component instead of the car, make sure it is uniform scale. One way to be sure it is uniform scale is to explode it and then make it a component again.
I think it's pretty clear how I set up the scene. I just made a tower of blocks and then threw a big object at it. SketchyPhysics did the rest.....
