SkIndigo 0.7.1 Pre-release beta

I need some help testing the official release of SkIndigo 0.7.1. (For Indigo 0.7 final) I have made a lot of changes that have potential for bugs especially IGM support, instancing and changing the way the Indigo path is stored.

Please, do not download unless you intend to test and post bugs. Thanks.

Here are the changes since 0.7test7:

#Added: new light presets
#Added: support for loading and saving IGM files (Blend materials not supported yet)
#Added: support for Indigo sphere primitive by naming component definition IndigoSphere (cannot be placed inside Indigo instance)
#Added: support for Indigo instancing - right click on Sketchup component
#Added: Sketchup Fog export
#Changed: Default Reinhard Pre-Scale to 6.0
#Added: Export selection only
#Removed: Camera is outside the sky-sphere warning message
#Changed: Indigo path is no longer saved in the Sketchup model, it is stored in a text file in the Sketchup/Plugins directory
#Fixed: command window staying open when auto-rendering
#Changed: Default image save period to 120 seconds

If you would like to help me out, experiment with the new features of this release and post any bugs. Hopefully, I can release the official version within a week.

Update: Possibly fixed bug causing Indigo to crash and removed messagebox popping up when exporting Indigo instances

Update: Possibly fixed bugs causing loading errors on Macs

Update: Changed how SkIndigo permanently sets camera image width to 35mm (messes up focal length in other exporters). Type in a render width of '0' to reset to Sketchup default camera settings.

I am trying the new version but get indigo 1.7.1 crashes instantly.
I am using SU 5. I just opened a model , setup the camera and hit render.
It loads up the indigo windows and then just crashes

You might have to confirm your render settings at least once before exporting your model. Could you elaborate on your 'crash'? Any error messages? Open your Ruby Console window before you export the model. If there are error messages in the window when you export, could you post them? I didn't test this with SU 5 but I don't think that's the reason you are getting crashes.

I loaded up a different model. No problems there.

The file that caused the crashes was a download from 3d warehouse....

I get those messages too. They are normal and shouldn't cause a crash.
I have sometimes experienced random crashes with Indigo 0.7. I don't think it is because of the exporter. It happens usually with very large files or when there is no focal point set (autofocus can't find find the focal point). I assume there is no Indigo error message, but a Windows error message saying that Indigo must be shut down.
I suggest you:
1) set the focal point
2) try setting bi-directional to the opposite setting of what you have
3) Try exporting a different model

No no no..thank YOU for improving this exporter.
Great work!

Using it on different models doesn't crash. It must have been that one 'bad apple' file that caused the issue.

My first impression on Skindigo 1.7.1? It seems to eat less of the resources of my PC and is less using the hard drive. that's great since it was an issue to me before.
Also the Indigo screen refreshes more easily so the progress of the rendering is more fluently.

I was able to duplicate this crash several times. It seems to be caused by face-me components. I will try to fix this before final release. For now, make sure there are no Face-me components in your scene. If you still get crashes, let me know.

There is also a small instancing bug. When exporting an instance, some message boxes pop up that say "1.0" I forgot to delete these before releasing but they will be gone in the final release.

There must be some other issue because the crashes seem to occur on more than one of my files.
To be sure there weren't any face me components I saved the models in SU v.3 format (v.3 didn't support face me) and loaded them back in v.5.
Still crashes.
Also I changed .png bitmaps to .jpg format. I exploded all objects/components to be sure there weren't materials assigned to groups (this was an issue in previous versions).
Copy pasting the complete model in a new file also didn't help.

...I don't know what is happening.
Maybe other users should rapport on this as well.

I've had this happen also, but ti was with a model from FormFonts.
SKU6 and Indigo 0.7.

you are really fast at squashjng bugs...I`ll try the updated version on those files. thanks.
by the way: those hybrid render methods really seem great in the new 0.8 release. Not that I would want you to rush in to anyhing :)

Don't tell anyone, but you can use SkIndigo 0.7 to export to Indigo 0.8 (at the moment) :wink:
Don't forget that the path to indigo is now stored in a text file in your Sketchup/Plugins directory so you will want to delete that file before using Indigo 0.8. The hybrid mode can be activated by changing inifile.txt

However, the crash issue isn't solved by using the updated skindigo. :cry:

Can you either:
post a scene that is crashing for you OR
post a link to a scene from the 3D Warehouse that is crashing

There was a bug with faceme components that I believe I fixed. I guess there is still another one (unless it is an Indigo bug). Try loading your IGS file with Indigo 0.8 and see if it still crashes. Are they really big scenes? I think really big scenes can cause Indigo 0.7 to crash. I think Ono fixed this in 0.8.
