multiple UV-mapping sets

Post by sunlooksgreen » Mon Jul 07, 2014 9:04 pm

Hi,

I'm trying to get a hold of the speed of Indigo with the demo. So far I am very impressed, but I struggle to create multiple UV-mapping sets. How do you do it? I have searched tutorials and forums with no luck. They mention an UV-mapping feature on right-click Skindigo menu wich seems to be no longer available. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Tom

This bugs me too I have to say... I know the UV sets are under 'Edit Active Mesh' now but I can never get them to work properly... Maybe I'm being stupid (probably am  ) but I found the old way really simple and it always worked...

Perhaps a quick tutorial from someone? Pretty please...

For example I still remember Whaat's old tutorial from waaaaaay back of a brick wall with the old Indigo logo, and moss and dirt all mapped over each other. I can safely say I would have no clue how to do that in SketchUp anymore...

Working at the moment with Octane and although they say it's unbiased I am not happy with the quality; so Indigo caught my eye and being trying to figure out how easy it would be to swap.
However, some features like texture editor with quadratic values and matrix rotation/scale don't seem to me like the most user friendly..anyway, if someone could help with the UV sets that would be a good start..

pd. could it be it's a limitation of the demo only 1 UV-mapping set?

ok..got it working..

@bubs it's deceptively simple; you just have to select the uv set you want to modify and attach/scale/position it under Skindigo mesh settings. hope this helps

Can you post a simple step by step please of how you did it?

I'm struggling to get a displacement map orientated the correct way as my texture. At the moment they're rotated at 90 degrees to each other.

I just can't figure it out. Doesn't help when the Indigo manual references a technique thats not there any more. I swear, I never had any real issues with displacement under the old way, all the 'active mesh' stuff just confuses the hell out of me.

Any help appreciated.

Cheers

hi bosseye! I think what's confusing people is the fact there is no apply button on active mesh settings. so it looks like the changes you make won't stick, but it does. All you have to do is choose another channel under UV MAPPING/ UV SET other than the sketchup one and attach the texture you will be using for displacement. once it's on the object you move/scale/rotate for desired results (right click->texture->position). Once you are happy and i guess that's the tricky part, you have to put back the diffuse channel texture, usually the one from sketchup and it's corresponding uv set (first you change back the channel, then change back texture). that's it!!

hope this helps

just let me know

Ah! Thanks.

I didn't have the texture selected in the active mesh ( ) so couldn't switch back and forth between the UV set texture and the Sketchup UV to display. I also neglected to change the UV set to 1 in the material displacement settings.
