Instance offset issue

Post by Chitect » Wed Jul 11, 2012 12:18 pm

I've been looking through the forum learning more and more about instancing but I came across a problem I cant seem to figure out.

On some models, where I place the "_dummy" is were the original gets rendered. However, with some the original is offset, sometime a little and sometimes a lot.

Here are examples of the good and bad, and what they look like when I am exporting from SU.

Any idea why it does this and/or how to fix it? I have some tree files that do the same and I would like the instancing to be more accurate.

Thanks

It's got something to do with the sub-level UCS of your objects.

Check with a double-click on the object where the XYZ axis are located INSIDE your group/component, then check the position in your dummy. Then move it to a position which is similar to the one of the base component.

I'll check that out, thanks.

That did it.
There was a ghost element in the original component causing the issue. I can't believe it was that simple.

Thank you!
