Material problems in Cinema4d/Indigo

Post by Blue Recluse » Wed Feb 24, 2010 7:06 pm

Need a solution. I can create Indigo textures in C4D but any texture I import, appears either grey phong or clear specular in the C4D material editor, but renders completely black with a phong appearance in Indigo. I can render the materials in the Indigo material editor, but they don't import into C4D or export to Indigo. Please help! I can't be the only person experiencing this.

this is a display of the previews in the material editor in C4D. These textures are brushed alluminum, Baby_blue plastic, apple juice and a texture I created for testing purposes.

check your scene scale. since you are using a SSS material it renders dark if your rounded cube is about half a kilometer high and width ;-)

SSS materials need reasonable sizes, set some scale modifier in the "Indigo Render Settings" Effect...

If you use indigo 1.1.18 it could be that some materials from the Mat DB aren't compatible with the old exporter.... sorry!

I changed the scene scale from km to cm and I got the error message below;

A problem occurred with the scene:
SceneLoaderExcep: Error while parsing DiffuseTransmitter material: ComplexIORExcep: ComplexIORDataSetExcep: Failed to open file 'nkdata/nkdata\al.nk' for reading. (In element 'phong', around line 89, column 9)

I'm using version 2.2 stable

this error should not be related to the scene scale :?

Anyway, check the path of the nk file for your material under "phong". It should be only the nk name (al.nk),
since cindigo checks directly in the nk folder of indigo

yes, its a known issue that cindigo doesnt import materials using nk's correctly.

this is going to be fixed in the next version.

bout you other problem: its probably the scene scale.
