its getting even better, David :)

along with the new material i was planning to do a custom material preview gui element which automatically updates the preview image every x seconds (probably 10) when the material is opened in the material editor or AM.

here we go. i present to you the new progressive preview:

3_after_some_time.jpg

you will of course be able to adjust the size of the gui element. indigo console runs in background. im not sure yet how this is going to work in the mac version :)

oh and the preview button might go somewhere else, not sure yet.

Very cool!
There's a discussion about Indigo.app instances on Mac OS here:

http://www.indigorenderer.com/forum/vie ... f=5&t=6609

Will we still be able to convert C4D materials into these Indigo Custom Materials? I would prefer it, but only if the original material is not going to be fully replaced by the new one.

Having the chance to compare the Indigo Custom Material with the original C4D material directly after conversion will be a great help to understand the parameters of the Indigo material system in general.

For me personally, this is a very urgent point!
Cheers, David

Sure! It will also happen automatically on export if you dont do that manually.
zeitmeister wrote:I would prefer it, but only if the original material is not going to be fully replaced by the new one.
Won't. C4D material will remain. the material links in texture tags will be replaced.

Hehe. Conversion will be relatively rough :)

here are two tests of the material conversion. only c4d materials used which were converted during export :)

they demonstrate abou anything thats supported by the conversion - albedo bump, displacment, exponent, emission maps. phong mat, diffuse mat, oren nayar, specular, glossy transparent.

I found a nice way to launch Indigo from c4d. if everything works out nicely Cindigo 2.2 will support launching multiple indigo instances on OSX :)

This i a simple test done using the amazing plugin SurfaceSPREAD.

I've first used as is, and it was good, but after I aimed higher and used diffuse transmitter, and just copied the channel over indigos own material.
