New Official Indigo Material Database is in private Beta!

Post by OnoSendai » Thu May 22, 2008 9:51 am

Hi all,
We have a brand spanking new Material Database, nearly ready to go.
It's been kindly coded by Fused (with a little help from yours truly).

Right now it's in 'private beta' testing, mainly for exporter authors, so we can make sure everything works together nicely.

It's integrated with the Indigo Joomla site, which means that you should already be logged in to it if you have an Indigo site login.

You will be able to get to it by clicking on the 'Material Database' menu above.

I've also created a new Material Database subforum in the forums, to discuss the MatDB and materials.

Apologies to the people who created their own off-site material databases, but I think that a Joomla integrated database is the best solution.

Once again, big thanks to Fused!

Hey boss, is the indigo webserver gonna be able to handle the bandwidth strain? :)

Or are we requiring the textures to be hosted elsewhere?

The Maxwell Mat DB hosts up to a certain size and then you can link to fullsize textures, how is it going to work for us?

I'm not sure if this the right place to post bugs, but I tried to download 'blend test' material and I got 'basic white' instead. Maybe it was a mistake by the uploader...?

http://www.indigorenderer.com/joomla/fo ... php?t=3474

i think ill upload them as .obj files so exporter writers can make a scene in their format.

edit:

heres the scene in igs format:
replace "previewMat" in preview.igm with the material you want to preview. make sure the name is "previewMat" afterwards.

Thanks fused.
I see if I can upload some stuff. I haven't dealt with igms in the past, at least not very successfully. Is there a way to easily export them from Blender?
It really would help to have a formated Blender preview scene.

i dont know if blender can do igm export, but you can easily copy the material(s) from the .igs(or xml) into a new file and put <scenedata></scenedata> around it.
