Indigo Renderer 3.2.10

Post by OnoSendai » Fri Apr 06, 2012 5:13 am

This is a Beta release.
If you spot any bugs or problems, please make a post about them in this thread.
Thanks!

We're currently renewing our code signing certificate, so the installer won't be signed. Windows will say the publisher is "Unknown". This is fine, but will be fixed for the next release.

Changelog:
3.2.10
* Fixed problem loading scenes with old-format exit portals, where the number of materials in the mesh and model don't m
atch.
* Fixed issue where changing a material to null material would sometimes render less efficiently than usual.
* Added pause after error for network slave before trying to reconnect to master.
* Fixed issue with network rendering across Windows and Unix machines.
* Made Network manager print a nicer message when no floating licence file is found.
* Made some improvements to the tracing precision.
* Fixed issue with GPU path tracer that was causing noise with specular materials in some cases.
* Allow .TIF file extension for TIFF files in the GUI. (besides just .TIFF)
* Made uninstaller safer (makes list of installed files and directories, manually deletes those)
* Opening an EXR or IGI in Indigo by double clicking file in Windows works again.
* Fixed 'Render buffer had incorrect width' error when rendering an image > 0.7 MP during the 30-day trial.
* Made new sky model use better interpolation and tweaked the blending with the ground colour a bit.

Dear King,

Each stable release that happened was first tagged as a beta; in other words, 3.2.10 is a potential candidate for 3.2 stable.

Glare Technologies policy is to strongly encourage users to report bugs, that once ironed will allow the "stable" qualificative. Then, new features are to be introduced, polished, and the cycle goes on until the following "stable beta" release.

Possibly the network related issues, wich were reported prior to 3.2.10, are of the highest importance to address before a stable mark. The rendering core is pretty stable already, on my behalf.

Note that regarding bugs reports it is of good practice to refer to the exporter developer first, as he is best qualified to determine the true nature of the issue you may report, with our encouragements ;)

Advanced users are those able to determine by the IGS content that the exporter is not in cause and that a bug should be filed. Requests can be posted any time, by any one.

Thanks for the reply CTZn, it is just that I want to buy another license, so I want to time it as best as I can. Is this a good time to buy one?

Also, what exporter is good with Max? Maxigo is stuck at 2.6, with 3.0+ being unstable and I am not sure about IndigoMax, I haven't explored it enough -- kudos to Subpixel for the exciting work however.

No disrespect was meant when I said "stable" -- it just seems to be the phrase around here for a major release, if you know what I mean. :)

Absolutely, and I would not take it otherwise !

It's therefore unlikely that a date will be announced: more than just a phrase, effective stability (e: in its widest acception) has historically been the implicit but objective criterion of the company commitment to quality. The stake of respecting an arbitrary date would otherwise impair the team's dedication to this purpose.

Helping in hunting bugs is again the best way by wich users can contribute toward a major release; we can nothing but be closer by now.

Thank you for your patience, and consideration.

NB: beta releases are quite frequent.

I still have "Out of phase" shadow images when rendering some images. Can't find a specific pattern...

Blender 2.62.0 r44136
Blendigo 3.2.6.0
Indigo 3.2.10.0

Most renders are OK when using slaves but I got the following images when rendering with Indigo 3.2.9.0 & 3.2.10.0 with 3 slaves :
Out of phase.jpg
But when performing a render without slaves (Master : Off), I get the following image :
No slaves.jpg
The same blender file seems to be rendering correctly with other viewing angles...

P.S. When starting renders, I made sure I had the "Skip writing existing meshes" at Off.

Picking/dropping materials is offset when the frame buffer resolution is reduced to 0.7Mp.

Hi fbrunell,
Thanks for the bug report.
Can you please send us the scene (as PIGS)?
Also, can you tell us about the hardware used on the master and slaves?
Is one of them running on an AMD CPU?

Sure can :

Master : Dell XPS 9100 : i7-980
Slave 1 : Dell XPS 9100 : i7-980X
Slave 2 : Dell XPS 9100 : i7-980
Slave 3 : Dell XPS 730 : Intel Core Quad Q9550

About the PIGS, how can I send it :52M -> 50M zipped

Updated : Strange, I tried rendering with the PIGS file generated and I don't get the problem???

Can you send it via dropbox or equivalent?

Sure, please provide e-mail address for me to send you with download information!

BTW, I tried to render the saved PIGS file and I don't get the problem???

Just in case you had the same hunch than me, I tried rendering from blender again (not from PIGS file) but erased the cache contents on all 3 slaves prior to rendering. I got the same problem.
