And *hem* on the topic of burn in Reinhard I think there are some misconceptions, burn occurs when it is lower than prescale, thus the notion of clipping the colors under the maximum range. Correct me if I'm wrong... and correct my correction if needed.

Hi Nick,

in order to let the user activate the diffraction computation on a per-scene basis could you please implement an XML tag in the scene description (eg. <aperture_diffraction>) to control this behaviour without accessing .ini file?

Thanks in advance, Riccardo.

SmartDen,

ive' tried to put "<aperture_diffraction>" or </aperture_diffraction>" or "<aperture_diffraction>true</aperture_diffraction>" and all three doesn't seems to be very well accepted by indigo 1.0.4.

Can u tell what's wrong?

Thanks in advance, Riccardo.

works fine, here! make sure you are putting them in the <renderer_settings> element.

<aperture_diffraction>false</aperture_diffraction> works well for me... yre you using right version?

Code: Select all

	<renderer_settings>
		...
		<aperture_diffraction>true</aperture_diffraction>
	</renderer_settings>

Well thanks guys... in my head aperture_diffraction had something to do with camera settings...not with renderer ones..

Btw much appreciated your help ;)

Riccardo.

I know this has been asked already, Nick, but will you be making any linux builds of the version (32 or 64 bit)?

here are some 4096px maps to share
I made these using a CAD program - wasn't exactly sure what to make really :roll: but I thought these might do for some experiments :wink:

there are 4,5,6,7,8,9 side poly and 5,6,10 point star, 3,4,6 arm cross, an ellipse, clover, petal and a 'sag' shapes :oops:
the cutout is maximised to the largest circle to fit in the square- see below for a reduced example - and the cut out shape is always centred on the middle of the square

I can make any shape basically so if someone has a request say so and santa will consider it :)

hmmm well experiments... :? without fussing over the settings and scene I have been trying em out

this is the 6 arm cross shape :roll:
does anyone have any suggestions/insights as to what makes 'nice' patterns?
I have feeling these are not fine enough in the arm dimensions :wink:
the pointed shape was a little fat too I think

seems to be you need to watch out the exposure setting etc doesnt make too large a diffraction and reveal the outline of the square :?

ok heres another few experimental map - a 5 arm cross with a hole - and 2 grids and an eyelash -- not sure about these possibily the lines are too thin :?

..better not flood the thread with these :oops: but I hope they are 'interesting' for some of you to play with :roll:

Sounds good :)
I guess, as there usually is a slight offset, your edges are too hard.... (see the slightly rounded hexagon, on first page)

well ok I did a google image search and although the designs vary and the overall 'hole' shape is somewhat variable as the aperture size changes it seems it is generally done with curved results so I 'll see what I can do :wink:

edit: ok here is a set of 5,6,7,8,9 sides with a radius rather than straight
we don't want to upset kram just before xmas do we :wink: only supplying hard edges like that..not considerate at all.. :D

You can generate this kind of aperture shape right via Indigo.
Or do i miss the point?
