Re: Indigo 2.2.7

Hi,

I had not had time to test the last two versions 2.2.5 and 2.2.6, and I 've just installed Indigo 2.2.7.

Nice changes in the GUI. Thank you very much !

I have two questions :

1 - Is the material editor included in the 2.2.7 ? I ask, because I have not found it.

2 - I noticed that the Stop button doesn't stop the render (still delivering updated messages in the log pannel). The rendering seems to stop really only when you close the scene. Is it a normal behaviour of this new release ?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,

Philippe.

Yes you are right djegoo it must be about RAM, I think I'm often pushing Indigo as far as my rig allows, hence the confusion.

@ZomB : For the stop button, have you looked in the log window ?

The render seems to stop in the main window, but the log still displays updated messages with render time !

Hi there! Why aren't launching Mac OS X versions simultaneously with Windows? I've bought the license and I'm feeling like "second choice"!...

Economy of scale says you're second choice, only a troubled business would make it otherwise, privileging the machine with less costumers in determent of that with more. Why don't you blame the fact that there's actual separate platforms with their own quirks which on itself don't ease the process instead of blaming someone who's doing his best to support three different platforms?

Hi Amadex,
we're working on setting up a 'build bot' system, which will automatically create new builds for all platforms. Until then Mac releases will be not as often as windows releases.

Yes you are right djegoo it must be about RAM, I think I'm often pushing Indigo as far as my rig allows, hence the confusion.

No problem Ctzn!
By the way, i remember that with the 1.1.18, i was able to render images at ~2500x1300 with my only 2Go RAM, and now i can t anymore with 2.2.7, i think i only can reach the 1600x1200 and if I do more then it crashes. (yes i know i must buy memory too, but it s too but this problem is quite anoying too for low budget users :p
I dunno since which release but it seems that it uses more memory :( could this be ameliorated?

( and by the way could i get my bbadge too please :D )

I can't answer you precisely djegoo because I'm systematically jumping on the latest Indigo (demo) version, and not so many people here can talk about framebuffer management.

Merging emission layers and prefering camera aperture to the post-process one will save some RAM...

Not to mention a lower supersample value, down to 1 (no supersampling). In wich case a soft splat filter may fit best (gaussian, or as someone mentioned recently: lower the mn_cubic ring and raise its blur).

2.2.8 Should use less RAM for buffers, and it will be out soon.
