I meaan are you student or what's Indigo for you.
I've to say it again: Great speedupdate, but why 10Hours on a strange-Material-Sphere ??
No I'm not a student, Indigo is like a part time job for me, for no money
The material sphere is all about the quality

Perhaps only raytracer heads will get it

My render (bidir-mlt) changed after some minutes to fully black with a white spot in it

What are the best tonemap settings to prevent this???

Crap... I think I may have introduced some singularities/INFS/NANs etc

Can you send me a simple test scene exhibiting this problem? thanks

try to simplify my scene (remove textures) ... when i use "physical sky" it turns quit soon over to black.
BTW.: console output sometimes looks funny (thread synchronization?)

I've got a problem with:
bidir+hybrid+(guess, I shouldn't do that, but:) particpating media...
no colours, just black and white (and a little grey) and much noise...
However, it's just 10 spp, right now

SWEET!

Thanks, Nick!!!
Glossy glass with Bi-Dir, MLT and Hibrid works great, and fast!

Re: Hybrid ... excellent choice

I did some testing with this myself a while ago and it seems Veach was indeed right
I assume you're still sticking with MLT for whole-sky sampling?
Ian.

Hi Nick,
hope you're still interested in a test scene to reproduce the "turn black" issue. Attached a scene that turns black already in the first 10sec. If you disable one of following features it seems to render right

so i can't realy find a specific reason for the issue:
- bidir
- sunlight and mesh-light at same time
- bump-maping
it's the combination of all this that seems to produce the "turn black"
Hope i was able the help you a bit with this

I've tried combinations of bi-dir, mlt, sunlight, meshlight in 0.7t7 vs 0.8t1 (and also experimented with hybrid) but for some reason 0.8 is rendering painfully slow on my PC - about half the speed of 0.7t7

Any scene is slow BUT it is only slow on my vista machine. I tried 0.8t1 on another machine running XP and surprise surprise it runs fantastic.
WHy have I been wasting my time with this Vista P.O.S.?? I must have been dropped on my head as a baby.
