4.4 How do I use indigo with MAYA?

How do I use indigo with MAYA?

Well, first off you have to download the Maya To Indigo XML Converter from
either www.indigorenderer.com or www.elqx.com/mayatoindigo
Follow the install instructions in the Readme.txt and run Maya.

All the information you need is in the Readme.txt file and
www.elqx.com/mayatoindigo/help.php
(There will come a Maya To Indigo Tutorial in the future)

Also, the exporter is quite slow and we recomand not to have more than
20'000 - 50'000 tris in the scene. Depends on your RAM and processor though.

Code: Select all

to me it seems that the most efficient way to achieve result (faq in xml) would be to put questions to the wiki page (on a single page not 1 page per question as it is now), let people modify the wiki page and then just run it through simple perl script doing the xml conversion. what do you think?

I hope you still need help :)

Code: Select all

<qandaentry>
        <question>
          <para>Why is everything black with linear tonemapping?</para>
        </question>
        <answer>
          <para>Depending on your light sources, you may need to set the scale value up to 1000000 or even more </para>
        </answer>
      </qandaentry>

Code: Select all

<qandaentry>
        <question>
          <para>Why is my light emitter black?</para>
        </question>
        <answer>
          <para>If you're using linear tonemapping, you have to increase the scale of the tonemap and/or the gain of the emitter. If you're using Reinhard tonemapping, you have to increase the gain of the emitter. Note that, for example, if your scene is lit by the sun, you may need to set your emitter gain up to some millions.</para>
        </answer>
      </qandaentry>
This one is just for blender users

Code: Select all

<qandaentry>
        <question>
          <para>How can I have a colored emitter?</para>
        </question>
        <answer>
          <para>You have to set the amb value to 0. Otherwise you'll have a blackbody emitter with temperature equal to amb*10000°</para>
        </answer>
      </qandaentry>

Hope these help you a little! English isn't my main language, so it may be full of errors... well, better than nothing :)
