As far as I am aware it is just an implementation of morphological anti-aliasing, I am not aware of any implementations that utilise a graphics card but there is surely no reason to imply that the PS3 is somehow capable of something beyond what high-end graphics cards could do.

I have always wondered, if you are not going to be rendering for commercial reasons, why the resolution limit would be a problem. It is still large enough for anything below HDTV resolutions, so that is the majority of broadcasting.

I guess the problem here is the distinction between a feature of the renderer and a feature of the exporter, from what I can tell this is a feature of skindigo that creates an alpha mask for masking out the environment in post. As Indigo doesn't support rendering the background as transparent it is ...
