CTZn, You are right. I thank you and Kram for pointing this out. So, I have now got the displacement mapping working on my cube object and I am very happy with how it is looking. I am amazed at how well the stone looks even over the seam on the front edge of the cube. Please, tell me if my understan...

A "B=.0250" setting gets me a lot closer to the Material Database preview pic.

Well, I definitely found what I was looking for: DISPLACEMENT mapping! Kram, Thanks for helping me slog through my ignorance of the blender/indigo/rendering basics. I now get what you were saying: That material btw look pretty much displaced, rather than bumpmapped... don't expect something like tha...

Here is a screen shot of my blendigo settings and a render that is going. On the textured/bumped .pgim material examples in the Material Database, the bump map changes the edges of the object. I am not getting this with any of my renders in indigo or yafray. Also, I cannot find any explanations of t...

And here is a blendigo render preview with the B parameter set to 1.000.
This does not look right. As with the yafray, it looks like the two images are blended in stead of the bump image changing the normals.

Any thoughts?

Here is a yafray render of the cube.

It seems I have some setting wrong. The two images just seem to be blended rather than the color image over the bump map. I must have some blender setting wrong.

I am using the STONESURFACE jpegs from the corresponding .pigm file in the site's Material Database. There is a color and a bump jpeg. http://www.indigorenderer.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_matdb&task=viewmat&id=90&Itemid=107 Can anybody give a clear explanation of what the A, B, and C parameters...

I get it: "Add an Attachment" in "Post a reply". Whew!

You can see that there are no bumps happening.

dumb question: How do I upload an image to the site? I cannot find a post that describes how to do this. Kram1023, I just uv mapped the STONESURFACE image to a default blender cube. Both the preview and the scene show the STONESURFACE color image mapped smooth on the objects with no bumping of the i...

I figured out that the ~/.blend directory reappears if I double click a XXX.blend file to open it. If I launch a blender file this way, I am automatically launched into the ubuntu packaged blender and it immediately creates a new ~/.blend directory. So, I need to remove the ubuntu package of blender...

Also, something which complicated me getting all the wrapper and python files in the right place is that I had a ~/.blend directory that was installed by ubuntu - blender 2.46. I downloaded blender 2.48a and put its directory in my home directory. After deleting the ~/.blend directory, I had no prob...

No bump mapping in scene or in preview scene

I have been following borgleader's uv mapping tutorial. I have been successful at getting the STONESURFACE image mapped, but I have not been able to get bump mapping working. In both my scene render and a preview render, the object is perfectly smooth - the rocks are not sticking out at all. Any tho...

Thanks guys! I just stumbled across the Render script menu on my own while trying to install BlenderCaliper.1.4.py. I am impressed that Blendigo_v1.1.13 even showed up under the Render menu, since my IndigoWrapper.conf file points to v1.1.5! I will try to install the latest version, since I now know...

Cannot get anything more recent than blendigo 1.1.5 working

I am running Blender 2.48a with Blendigo v1.1.5 and Indigo v1.1.5 under Ubuntu 8.10. Blendigo v1.1.5 shows up in the export window of Blender and successfully renders. But, I have not been able to get any more recent versions of Blendigo/Indigo working. Has anybody gotten a more recent version worki...

zsouthboy, Thanks for the reply. I got it working. The problem was that I was using the arrows on the Blendigo "Absorp. Type: RGB" Gain setting. It steps in increments of 100. At 0.00 there is no color imparted to the transparent material, so the scene is black and white. Press the right arrow once ...
