When you load the exr of a sky image, how do you get the sun/ light to work>?

I've got my boss breathing down my back and need to know how to convert the .igs file into a .jpg. He is trying to show our client that we are making progress. I tried searching the forums but was unsuccessful and you all are so helpful.

When I try to render the scene with the HDR as a sphere, all I get is a lot of color pixels. How do you change the HDR to and EXR.

What am I doing wrong?

Thank you guys. I forgot to put the model in monochrome to see the face normals. I was assuming that since I saw the material the face normals were oriented correctly.
