oh, ok, gotcha. So most of the time, I'll either be using a texture mapped plane, or an actual rendered background. Cool, thanks! Now I know! That also answers the black line thing! Thanks BbB!

Tweaking an EXR image.

Hi everyone! Below is my first attempt at using an HDRI image to give off cool reflections and stuff. I'm pretty happy with the results, since I'm a n00b and this looks a bit better than my usual renders, but I was wondering how I would go about tweaking a couple of things about the HDR image: Altho...

That last one is a huge improvement! some of the lighting looks a little overexposed, but the colors really look nice, and the fireflies seemed to be mostly gone. Good job!

I'm back...

After I had the issue mentioned in this thread, I kinda gave up on messing with 3d for awhile, cause I was bummed that my problem couldn't be resolved. Then I read the post by Qwaszt and the reply by Kram, and I went home, installed the latest stable build of indigo/blendigo, and lo and behold, my i...

I hope you're right Kram. I tried re-rendering this scene from scratch numerous times with the same results though.

here it is. I may have used one of my other numerous tests. For some reason I had to tun the bump down to .0050 to get the same look. same result though.

Do you mean default.igs? IT's 57.5 MB, which is too big to post for an .igs. I zipped it down to 8.35 MB, but that's too big for a zip file. I can email it you you if you want?

N00b question about tiling bump maps.

In my other post regarding tiling texture maps, one of the forum members, AlexMeyer was able to resolve my problem, but that gave rise to another issue. Now, my bump map doesn't follow the UV coordinates set by the texture map, it makes weird tiles. I've uploaded some screens of my issue as well as ...

@ Alex: The only difference I see is that you're using the latest unstable version of Blendigo, and I'm using v0.9, but that shouldn't be the problem, since other people have been able to use bump maps going even further back. I tried a few different things today, but no matter what The bump map kee...

@ Kram: i subsurfed 4 times each.

@ Olis: Thanks! What resolution do you think I should bake at? For these, I just used default settings then subsurfed x 4 and used 'set smooth'

Yeah, a setting of '1' does look pretty nice nice, but I was just using that as a default starting point. Man, that's weird. This fluid thing is still baking, it's been doing so for hours, because I want it to look nice, and my domain is pretty big. Logically, I should be able to reboot and render t...
